PROFILE- AUTHORS OF FORTHCOMING TLA RELEASE: REMEDIES IN EQUITY  

SAMANTHA HEPBURN AND DAVID WRIGHT

Samantha Hepburn PhD (Melb) is an Associate Professor at the Deakin University Faculty of Business and Law, and was previously an Associate Professor in the Australian National University Faculty of Law. She has published four books in the areas of equity, trusts and property law and numerous scholarly articles. This month, Samantha Hepburn updates 15.6 Specific Performance and 15.8 Injunctions.

David Wright is a senior lecturer at the University of Adelaide and admitted as a barrister and solicitor.  He was formerly Visiting Professor, University of Tokyo and Visiting Research Scholar, Kings’ College London. He worked at the NSW Law Reform Commission and was Associate to the Hon Justice Meagher. He holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Sydney and a postgraduate degree from University of British Columbia. He is the Title Editor of Equity in The Laws of Australia, Editor of the Australian Succession and Trusts Law Reports and has written three books, several book chapters and numerous articles.

Hepburn and Wright are co-authors of Remedies in Equity – The Laws of Australia. Publishing in July, this book is a comprehensive reference for practitioners and students regarding the power of courts to award equitable relief in Australia. This up-to-date text provides a clear and simple overview of key remedies in equity. Extensive case examples and factual discussion complement a thorough examination of established principles. This includes coverage of the latest judicial decisions and any statutory modification of the remedies in equity. This work also identifies the critical matters which can affect the exercise of a court’s discretion and when remedies in equity may or may not be available.
